What preload means for you
Preloading downloads the game files to your console/PC before launch, so you can play the instant it unlocks at midnight on December 10 (or 72 hours early if you own Digital Deluxe on an eligible platform).
- Check storage space early — see our download size estimate (70–100 GB depending on platform).
- Start the download when it appears — large downloads take time on slower connections.
- Preload ≠ playable — you still wait for the unlock time, but the wait is short.
How to find your preload
- PS5: Settings → Storage or the game's store page shows a download timer when preload is live.
- Xbox: preorders auto-preload if "remote installation" is enabled in settings.
- Switch 2: check the eShop "preload" toggle for your preorder.
- Steam: the game appears in your Library with a "Preload" button when available.
72-hour early access and preload
If you own the Digital Deluxe Edition (except Switch 2), you unlock the game 72 hours early — on December 7, 2026. Preload should be available before then so you're ready to play the moment early access opens.
