Attack on Titan 3 Preorder

Preorder status by platform

When do Nintendo Switch 2 digital preorders start?

No date has been announced. Koei Tecmo's release-date announcement says only that digital preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 version will start at a later date. Do not use the live PS5, Xbox or Steam preorder dates to predict the Switch 2 eShop opening.

Physical listings are a separate issue and can vary by country and retailer. A September 28 player discussion and an independent Australian retailer-availability question show that players are encountering different regional listings. Those posts establish demand, not an official launch schedule. Track the verified status on our Switch 2 guide.

Japan-only retailer preorder bonuses

Koei Tecmo's Japanese product page lists additional bonuses tied to specific Japanese retailers. These are regional offers and are not confirmed for North American or European copies:

• Koei Tecmo Spot — A4 clear file
• Amazon Japan — Wings of Freedom gloves character-creator item
• GEO — Wings of Freedom choker character-creator item

Check the exact Japanese platform and edition listing before ordering. The official source does not state that these bonuses transfer to copies purchased in other regions.

Digital preorder bonus

Digital preorders include the Wings of Freedom Earrings for the customizable protagonist. Koei Tecmo notes that this bonus may later be distributed as paid or free content.

Digital Deluxe early access

Eligible Digital Deluxe preorders include a key to play 72 hours before release. The Nintendo Switch 2 version and the standalone Digital Deluxe Upgrade Pack do not include that early-access key.

Early-purchase and save-data bonuses

Players who purchase by December 23, 2026 can receive the Wings of Freedom Hoodie. Players with Attack on Titan 2 or Final Battle save data on the same system also receive a bonus that Koei Tecmo has not fully revealed.

Every preorder bonus at a glance

Bonus items in this release come from four different mechanisms, and confusing them is the most common preorder mistake. The table below separates what is tied to preordering, what is tied to buying early, and what is tied to your history with the series.

The practical takeaway: if you only care about in-game items, any digital preorder covers the earrings and buying within the first two weeks covers the hoodie. The early-access key is the single benefit you can only get through a Digital Deluxe preorder on an eligible platform.

How the 72-hour early access works

Koei Tecmo confirms access 72 hours before the standard release on eligible platforms. Calendar dates can differ by storefront and timezone: Xbox currently displays December 7 for Digital Deluxe, while Steam can display “Advance Access Starts Dec 6” in some regions. An exact worldwide unlock hour has not been published.

Double-check two things before paying the Digital Deluxe premium: Switch 2 is excluded from early access, and buying Standard plus the Deluxe Upgrade Pack later does not grant the early-access key. Do not rely on a converted local time until your platform shows the final countdown.

Physical or digital preorder?

Physical preorders make sense for collectors: the SteelBook Launch Edition is physical-only and historically limited, and boxed copies can be traded or resold. The trade-offs are that retailer preorders do not always include the digital bonus items, shipping can slip past release day in some regions, and Switch 2 boxes contain a Game-Key Card rather than a full game on the cartridge — you still download the game.

Digital preorders avoid shipping delays and are tied directly to a platform account, but preload timing has not been announced. See our preload timing guide for the current TBD status. Refund eligibility depends on the storefront, region, download status and current policy.

Preorder refund and cancellation policies

Cancellation and refund rules differ by storefront and region and can change before launch. Check the current policy shown by PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop or Steam before paying; this guide does not treat an older platform-policy summary as a guaranteed refund.

Why some players are waiting

Some prospective buyers in the discussions we reviewed prefer to wait for a demo, independent reviews, platform performance results and a final answer on multiplayer. Regional pricing and the amount of newly playable material beyond the stories already covered by earlier games also affect the value decision.

This is not a universal recommendation against preordering. It is a risk choice: collectors may value the limited SteelBook, while performance-sensitive or online-focused players currently have important unanswered questions. See the full community concerns report.

Before placing an order

Check the storefront region, edition name and early-access fine print. The Steam version is digital-only; Switch 2 physical copies are Game-Key Cards; the limited SteelBook Launch Edition can sell out.
